In the 1960s, Joe and Jocelyne Chahine, Pitaland Mediterranean Bakery owners, were on their honeymoon in Pittsburgh when a war broke out in their home country, Lebanon. Using a dollar in Joe’s pocket, he built delicious, dough-rising staples with an incredible American Dream story. Pitaland also has cheeses, deli meats, olives, and a wide range of imported specialty foods for sale and their four children play a part in everyday operation.

At Party Cake Bakery people love their Paczki’s, Polish donuts filled with either cream or fruit filling, then coated in sugar, but you must get there early because they sell out fast. As for the bites tour, Liam didn’t know the almond torte folk story about Pittsburghers having a torte demand after indulging during weddings—but it took the sweet spotlight.
North Side and South Dakota Gals: Two best friends who love to travel and eat, these gals divulge in the balance of family and food travel while showcasing what South Dakota natives are like, with one transplanting right to the North Side!
