QUESTION OF THE DAY:

What is your favorite Taylor Swift song of all time?

4:32 Maame Danso

DC native Maame Danso was not convinced to move to Pittsburgh because of its affordability, but its charm. She says that Pittsburgh has been very welcoming to her as she pursues her music career, to our surprise! As a student of Higher Voice in Carnegie (she pronounced it right) she’s been able to branch out into the music community by performing at places like the Washington Community Theater. Her lyric writing has no rhythm, but they are inspired by her dream of starting a punk band.

12:10 Karsen Cervi

Director of marketing and social media for Three Rivers Karting, Karsen Cervi spills the beans about how the building used to be a coffee bean factory. This indoor go-karting track is only one of three in the state. The Yinzer-friendly location requires no bridges or tunnels, and has free parking! It’s newest feature, an old-fashioned arcade, makes this space family-friendly for people of any age.

19:39 Anna Hollis

Executive Director of Amachi Anna Hollis got a little competitive on the race track. She shares the meaning behind the word “amachi” which translates from Nigerian Igbo to mean who knows what god has brought us through this child. The fundraising event on November second, Amachi Hachi Pachi,, will honor Franco Harris and get groovy with a silent disco. Are you down with AHP?

28:33 Kate Hamilton

Self-proclaimed yinzer-obsessed and go kart champion Kate Hamilton made her match with a millwright on her first night in Pittsburgh. It may not be everyone’s dream, but this California girl was determined to fall in love with a yinzer man. This Pittsburghized “When Harry Met Sally” is in the process of becoming a semi-autobiographical play by Kate. She also frequents open-mic nights around Pittsburgh to kickstart her comedy career.

37:41 Kristy Locklin

Food editor of the Pittsburgh Magazine Kristy Locklin, flaunts her fashion and fondness of Pittsburgh with a Jeff Goldblum t-shirt. What’s her secret for finding food in the ‘burgh? Just explore! Whether you walk through Lawrenceville to the Strip District, or navigate to the North Shore, there are restaurants everywhere waiting to be found and food to be eaten.
