August 24, 2021

Summary: Sharon and Rob Rick shared two porch options and a waterfall with Sylvia of Burgh Bites, a food tour of neighborhoods, Lisa Cunningham, City Paper Editor, and Sally Wiggin, who is straight Pittsburgh royalty. 2:57    Sally Wiggin

Whether her passion for stories she tackled on WTAE, or her black and gold blood, Sally Wiggin stayed put in Pittsburgh after retirement, after all, it became her home in 1980 and she grew with our evolving city. From stories about the Steelers’ benevolence, to her love for animals that landed her a docent position at The Pittsburgh Zoo, the legendary lady talks extensively about sports, pierogies and what she would be doing if journalism was not an option.

30:17    Mary Mac and Harry Larry

Two longtime supporters of the tour that takes us porch to porch, Harry Larry inspects the flawless Rick oasis and approves that no maintenance is needed.  He reminds us that J&D Waterproofing is also responsible for small jobs like roof patching, while Mary Mac passes her almost famous chocolate chip cookies.  She also reminds us that supporting local is easy and beneficial, especially when a little nebby mix is an option.

34:09   Sharon and Rick

Our home owners, Sharon and Rick talk about their pretty awesome deck and back yard.  A log cabin house, pool, multi-layer deck annnnnd a waterfall is part of the audio picture. Oh and a huge buffet of food in the kitchen.

39:15    Lisa Cunningham

Penning factual and creative stories is second nature to the young leader of the Pittsburgh City Paper, and role models like Sally Wiggin have helped strengthen her role.  Lisa Cunningham took the editor position at the underrated publication and vowed to cover and bring to light the non-traditional, less typical new stories in the city and beyond. From important under covered news to boasting of Lynn Cullen’s longevity, Lisa is an advocate for print journalism and all things yinzer.

53:31    Sylvia of Burgh Bits and Bites

Walking tours boasting of history have become commonplace in downtown Pittsburgh, but what about food facts focused on specific neighborhoods? Sylvia has that concept mastered with her Burgh Bits and Bites with reflections like the one she talks about Pita Land in Brookline.  Get your food facts on with this new Burgh concept.
