On Thursday, December 18th representatives from the non-profit organization Blessings in a Backpack, and an array of volunteers and supporters, packed non-perishable foods in backpacks for approximately 630 students who qualify for the federal free and reduced price meal program in the Wilkinsburg School District.
Local volunteers including Attorney Edgar Snyder and members of his staff helped with the packing at the Kelly Elementary School.
āBlessingsā started in Louisville, KY in 2005, and now feeds over 60,000 kids across the U.S. and there are chapters in three countries. It only takes only $80 currently to feed a child for the entire school year on the weekends. 100% of donations goes to the program.
