A recent visit to Ireland included a trip to Howth, a fishing town about 45 minutes outside of Dublin via tram. As you can see from the photo, it’s beautiful.
The photo was taken from a paved path that leads up to an overlook including a stop at “Balscadden House” which was the home of poet/writer W.B. Yeats between 1880-1884.
The walls along the cliff path and roads to homes like Balscadden House were often built in the 18th or 19th century,
That said… the view is beautiful but, someone thought it was cool to leave 21st century garbage on the wall.
So to put this in true Irish limerick format, “Where the stones remember Yeats’ footsteps, and the sea whispers lines he never wrote. Howth holds its poetry in stone and sky and the Jags are keeping a watchful eye.” Clean up your trash, YaJagoff!
