What Aggravates Me John Knight

Getting Back to Normal

Welcome to our regular Saturday feature “What Aggravates Me”

I was enjoying what may be the last eighty degree day of the year this past week. Television was bombarding me with Christmas commercials, even though it’s not yet even Halloween. Everything is rushed and it makes the time go by too quickly. Everything that is with the exception of this damn election.

This thing has been going on way too long. Remember when it started? Remember when there were sixteen Republican candidates? Remember when you thought,

“Well, Donald Trump certainly makes it entertaining, but there’s no way in hell…”

Yeah, remember?

On the other side, it was pretty much decided that Hillary would get the nomination all along. There’s a lot of speculation that the whole thing was rigged for it to work that way. So now you have the two least desirable candidates in the history of this country. As I travel and meet people from all over the nation, the general consensus is utter disgust.

The good news is, it’s getting close to the end. It will all be decided within a few weeks…maybe. As one of the few people not currently being sued by Mr. Trump, I don’t think he’s going down without a fight. He’s already saying the whole thing is rigged against him. If he loses, it’s going to be ugly. Riots, lawsuits, not to mention tweets in the middle of the night accusing Hillary of making a porno movie.

He’s not going away easy. It might be best for him to just win. That way we could have the inauguration, impeachment and institutionalization over with by the beginning of February.

I’m just so tired of it. The negative adds telling you how bad the other candidate is. No ads telling you how either one will improve your life. I needed to get it out of my system and feel normal again.

So, I headed over to Aldi. Yes, I shop at Aldi for certain items. If you haven’t been to Aldi, they have lower prices than the competitors. They keep costs down by cutting out certain luxuries, like baggers. Actually, they don’t even have bags, you have to bring your own.

It’s also twenty-five cents for a shopping cart, but, you get that back when you return it. This actually works out for the best. It gives people incentive to return the cart. Not like when you go to pull into what you thought was an empty parking space outside of Giant Eagle. Of course you find out the reason the spot is empty is because some idiot left a shopping cart there. This rather than push it the five feet to the cart return. Did I ever mention that some people really get on my nerves?

I had completed my purchase and was in the process of bagging my groceries. What they do is just throw everything back in the cart and it’s up to you how you want to handle things. I guess you could just throw it all in the trunk of the car like that and deal with getting it in the house later.

What most people do, is bag their groceries in the store. There’s a long counter, just beyond the cashier, where you can do that. I was the only one at the counter, I mentioned it’s a long counter, didn’t I?

So I was at the long counter, bagging my groceries. I wasn’t really paying much attention, but suddenly I felt a presence behind me. A couple had pulled their cart up right alongside of me and were bagging. I think I mentioned it was a long counter.

They were actually right up against me and I caught a couple of elbows. As I began to exit, I stopped to ask a question.

“Excuse me, I don’t remember. Were you here first and I came up right next to you?”

“No, you were here.”

“Ok, good. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the jackass.”

As I left the store I thought,

“It’s good to be back to normal.”
