Where Ya at YaJagoff – North Hills Edition

What is “the North Hills” of Pittsburgh exactly?

Bruno Sammartino Park (formerly known as Sangree Park)

Recently renamed for local wrestling legend, this park has gone through a bit of an upgrade recently, with new playground equipment, including some fun percussion play items, and a basketball court.  It also houses the creek where I did creek walks while my dad coached football.

After your visit to the park, be sure to stop at Wheelfish (also known as “where Frank N Steins used to be at” for the OG North Hills residents) for a great menu and, hopefully one day soon, live music.

McKnight Road

So many stores and restaurants, so many cars. One of the best things about the North Hills is its proximity to town, but this road is best avoided for basically the entire month of December, when it becomes a pre-holiday “McNightmare.” Tip: the Ross Park Mall is a great point of reference for people with only a passing familiarity of the region.

Studio Raw & Sugar Spa

Our favorite places for all things pampering, acceptance and love of our all neighbors, and freshly-popped popcorn.

Sandy Kozera

Sandy Kozera is a resident of the North Hills, a lawyer, a mom to two daughters, a member of the North Hills School District, a retired kickball and dek hockey player, and a current Peloton enthusiast.
