Hi, what are you looking for?

Where Ya at YaJagoff

Kristen in the Outer Banks

D’ja know that YaJagoff team members take vacations?! Well kind of. They are always busy at work and looking for the best places for you to see! That includes Kristen, who recently took a trip to the Outer Banks & found a little piece of home in the process!

Meet Kristen and enjoy her ‘Where Ya At?’

The first thing you should probably know about me… I like to EAT! Plus – vacation calories don’t count.. Am I right? Let’s start with breakfast at Tullio’s Bakery in Duck. When it comes to bakeries, I have high standards thanks to Oakmont Bakery and Mazzioti’s, but Tullio’s is probably as close as Heaven you can get to on the beach! I always get their Nova Lox breakfast sandwich (smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers and onion), but don’t pass up on their sweet treats! Especially their cannolis!

Next up… Lunch! Sunset Grille & Raw Bar in Duck is perfect for all of your seafood cravings. When it comes to a nice sit-down meal to watch a beautiful sunset over the sound or getting the gang together to enjoy Happy Hour out on their pier, it’s got your selection of food and drinks, including the Tuna Aloha Bowl. With colors like this, you can trick yourself into thinking you’re being SUPER healthy at the beach!

Now is probably the time when we should take a minute to workout and do some yoga. I know what you’re thinking… KRISTEN, IT’S VACATION! NO WORKING OUT! Well, the nice thing about the Outer Banks.. They offer simple fitness classes outside, so you don’t have to feel like you’re actually working out! Did I mention it was free? It’s worth it to enjoy a little “you” time in the early morning, where you can hear all the peaceful nature around you. And then it puts you in a better mindset to eat again!

We’re now coming up on my most favorite meal in the Outer Banks—Seafood Risotto from the Black Pelican in Kitty Hawk! When I say this is my favorite meal, I mean on Planet Earth. This is my “must-have meal” every time I visit OBX, it’s just that good! The cheesy risotto mixed with the seafood combo of shrimp and scallops, topped off with sweet potato strings and more cheese… DELICIOUS! Do you see why I need yoga on my vacation now?

And finally, saving the best for last.. A little slice of home! Feeling a little homesick in the Outer Banks and in need of some black and gold in your life? Head on down to Barefoot Bernie’s in Kitty Hawk! Not only do they have yummy food and drinks, the owner is a former yinzer and took that pride with him to OBX! With the bar covered in Steelers, Penguins and Pirates memorabilia, you feel like Norm walking into Cheers – They might not know your name, but they understand the teams and the city that you love. He even made his own Barefoot Bernie’s Terrible Towel!

I hope you enjoyed your short stay in the Outer Banks! It truly is a piece of Heaven there, but as Dorthy once said, “There is no place like home..”

Meet Kristen! Full time yinzer, part time marketing coordinator with YaJagoff & sometimes that girl you hear on Q92.9FM!

The Steelers are her team, Harry Potter is her geek out, the Outer Banks are always her daydream and IC Light Mango is her drink of choice.

Sorry fellas, Kristen is taken by her main man, her dog Brody. Her husband is a close second.

When Kristen isn’t dancing around the studio to Taylor Swift, she has her head in a book, her body in a yoga position or is trying to uncover a crime like Olivia Benson with a murder mystery documentary.
