Insider Eats has been around for a few months now, since October of 2022. Since then, a lot has changed! But let’s start with a brief introduction, or re-introduction.
Insider Eats is a project aimed at bringing more access to authentic international food to Pittsburgh. They partner with chefs from around the world who now call Pittsburgh home in order to provide adventurous Pittsburgh eaters with unique and perhaps never-before-seen items, like Ethiopian Ye Ater Kik Alicha (split peas simmered in onion, garlic, and turmeric), or Indian Pao Bhaaji, a thick vegetable curry with lots of veggies and spices, served with a buttered and toasted bread roll. Currently, there are seven different cuisines on the website, but more are being consistently added.
Folks can order on www.insider-eats.com for pickup or delivery. Their delivery range is expansive, so put in your zip code and try something new, delivered hot to your door!
Here we have some dishes from Chef Saudat’s kitchen: Nigerian jollof rice with chicken and plantains, and puff-puff for dessert.
Jollof rice is a traditional West African spicy one-pot rice dish that can be a side-dish or main course.
Puff-puff is a delightful deep-fried dough ball that can be eaten as a snack, dessert, or even breakfast!
