The Block Northway Farmers Market… sampling my way around on a Friday afternoon.
The Block Northway’s weekly Farmers Market provides ample opportunity to sip and snack your way through the afternoon. Every Friday afternoon from 3-6 pm you’ll find a variety of vendors and food trucks. The Food truck lineup rotates throughout the season, so no 2 weeks are ever the same.
If you’re looking for good eats, take a quick walk with me around the vendor area.
We’ll start with our daily bread at Vibo’s Italian Bakery stand. Here you’ll find fresh Italian loaves, hot cross buns, paczki, and pepperoni rolls to name a few. I recommend you spend some of your dough on theirs. Mangia!
You’ve heard the saying, “life is short, eat cake.” Don’t leave the market without getting yourself a slice of bakery heaven from The Cakery.
The sizeable slices sell for $4. Each week they bring two different cake flavors (the one pictured is Butter Pecan). They make an excellent Saturday morning breakfast choice. If it lasts that long, I’m just saying.
Next stop, Chocolate Fusion Fudge. Here is another decadent indulgence available at the Farmers Market. They will give you a sliver of a sample. I highly recommend the Sea Salt Caramel, it’s one of their best sellers. I also recommend you purchase at least a slice. Trust me, you’ll be thinking about it later.
Next stop, let’s sample some farm-fresh, flavor-infused honey. Huckle Bee Farms blends up a variety of flavor-infused honeys. Espresso, Peach, and Watermelon are the 3 newest flavors out now. The garlic-infused honey on shrimp is out of this world! If you are looking for a honey of a deal the Huckle Bee Farms stand is the place to “bee.”
Country Hammer Moonshine gives you a trip down memory lane with each sip. This Adult Orange Pushup flavor will bring back memories of chasing the ice cream truck for those orange frozen pushups. Warning this stuff goes down smooth! You can sample seasonal flavors at the Farmers Market all season long.
You’ll find the Farmers Market at The Block Northway every Friday afternoon from 3-6 pm. The market runs from June through October. Yinz should really check it out.
