John and Rachael got the text from Patricia Vince at Zachary’s Mission this week. She eloquently said it was another great porch tour season, but after her checklist process, the team declared a winner.
The Vince family, founders of Zachary’s Mission, created a method of sorting through all the wish list items and monetary donations collected at the porch tour stops, thanks to hosts: The Komondors, Paynes, Douglass’ and Hudsons. These gracious families recorded podcasts at their homes and invited friends to bring necessary donations in honor of filling Zack Packs. These are quality embroidered backpacks filled with toiletries, snacks, journals, and other comforts, Zack Packs are given to families staying in the hospital with their medically fragile children.
Each year, the home/porch visit that collected the most items and monetary donations receives a unique prize. This year, the Pub on Wheels will be the center of a party stocked with Dough Daddy beer thanks to Caliente Pizza & Draft House. Plus, longtime supporters of Zachary’s Mission, Pitt-Ohio, have donated four F.N.B Club tickets to the Pens vs Stars game on November 11.
Thank you to all who opened their homes to this amazing venture and helped grow this program. The mission is not complete though, continue to support Zachary’s Mission and their many other efforts, yajagoff! The winner will be announced today at 11 a.m.ISH on the YaJagoff Facebook page.
