Santonio Holmes, the Super Bowl XLIII MVP is in town this weekend celebrating his annual Strikes Against Sickle Cell in its 4th year. The proper gift when celebrating four years as a milestone is fruit or flowers because it symbolizes blossoming and blooming. Hmmmmmmm…..
Do a couple of jagoffs really show up with a fruit basket or bundle of sunflowers for the MVP? I mean how do we find out his fave? The day usually consists of business supporters securing a lane and bowling strikes against the disease that plagued Santonio’s son, TJ. Many past and present Steelers and Pittsburgh faves take pics and hang out with Santonio and the supporters. Not this year. Instead, the MVP will travel to his supporters with a max of 10 people (maybe has something to do with his iconic number) and will bowl with a plastic set. The best part is you can follow along with the fun on Santonio’s Facebook page all day…with us!
But back to how to celebrate or welcome an MVP? I mean he likes Pittsburgh pierogis and Primantis, he is visiting the newest Pittsburgh staple, Caliente, so perhaps we stick with what is protocol: flowers and fruit. So, follow along today while we visit these generous Pittsburgh staples who are bowling Strikes Against Sickle Cell with the one and only MVP.
