From Across the Globe to Your Doorstep: Insider Eats Delivers International Food

Insider Eats, a Pittsburgh startup founded in the fall of 2022, features the most authentic dishes from ethnic restaurants in the ‘burgh. They offer takeout and delivery, and might just have the widest delivery range in Pittsburgh (up to about 22 miles). Now partnering with 10 restaurants, Insider Eats is adding more global flavors on a regular basis, so get on their mailing list at www.insider-eats.com to stay updated.

Not really sure how adventurous you’re feeling, or if you’re ready to try different international foods? Let’s break down one of the dishes from their Vietnamese menu: the iconic banh mi sandwich. It has some similarities to a traditional American hoagie that we all know and love. Banh mi in Vietnamese loosely translates to “bread,” so yes, it starts off with a good, crusty roll,  typically a French baguette, stemming from heavy French influence in Vietnam. The banh mi is spread with pate (a mixture of ground meat and fat cooked in a dish called a terrine), and then stacked with different kinds of meat including pork and Vietnamese meat, pickled veggies, cucumber, cilantro, and fresh chiles like jalapenos. Chef Song’s version includes garlic butter and mayo in place of pate. You can also choose your protein: chicken, pork, shrimp, tofu, or the traditional dac biet, which is typically ham and pork.

Insider Eats’ Vietnamese kitchen in Robinson also offers things like fresh spring rolls, poke bowls, pho, Asian fusion dishes like curry and ramen, and boba teas. Is your Pittsburgh palate still holding on for dear life? Why not try the chicken bulgogi fries, made with crispy French fries topped with marinated chicken, cheese, pickled veggies, and sriracha mayo. The perfect blend of flavors and textures from multiple different cultures.
