Confession! I thought the words to the traditional New Year’s Eve song were Old Lang’s Sign. You know, a reference to Mike Lang sayings put on a sign. I am also the gal who thought the song lyrics for Shut Up and Dance with Me were sha la la dance with me. I am not alone Pittsburgh, here are a few others commonly mistaken:
- Tiny Dancer: Is NOT Hold me closer Tony Danza
- Blank Space: Is NOT Got a lot of Starbuck’s lovers
- Genie in a Bottle: Is NOT come, come, come on and let meow
- Purple Haze: Is NOT ‘Scuse me while I kiss this guy
- Runnin’ Down a Dream: Is NOT Runnin’ down a drain
And so on and so on. But auld lang syne means to reflect on the past and fondly remember good times. You learn something every day. Happy New Year, YaJagoff!
