On Tuesday evening, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership hosted former Steeler’s linebacker – and wannabe Santa Claus – Arthur Moats, along with a small grouping of Gwen’s Girls, to officially kick-off the new Santa Zoom: Live from the North Pole experience, powered by Xfinity, in Market Square.
Moats, a two-time nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his volunteer and charity work in the community, delivered gifts to the five participants after speaking to them as one of Santa’s helpers in the first interactive chats for Santa Zoom this season….Read More Below.
Santa Zoom: Live from the North Pole offers a new way for kids to safely interact with Santa this year. Technology is second nature to today’s savvy kids, and this real-time conversation with Santa provides a creative and safe alternative to the traditional in-person visit. Since Christmas is for everyone, families will also have the option to Zoom with either a Black or white Santa, and will receive a free downloadable photo keepsake of their visit with a suggested $5 donation to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Foodbank.
“It’s great to bring some Christmas cheer at this time of year, and these girls are certainly deserving. I know they’ll have bright futures ahead of them with all the encouragement and support they get from Gwen’s Girls,” said Moats. “I’m also really happy to see that families visiting the new Santa Zoom experience Downtown will have the option to choose a Black or white Santa this year. I think that creating a more inclusive experience will truly be appreciated by the Pittsburgh community.”
Gwen’s Girls serves as a champion for women, offering programs and services to children and young adults in Allegheny County. Since 2002, the program has helped more than 6,000 young women while providing the support and tools needed for them to discover their value and voice as they grow into positive role models.
