Social Media Overview – Support Sales and Relationships

Thanks for being interested in using social media to help you build your “personal brand” as a Wilson Group representative.

  • We realize social media isn’t for everyone.
  • We know that technology can be challenging.
  • We understand that some may not know what a hashtag is #Hashtag
  • Nothing beats a face-to-face personal touch to selling and relationship building  (socially distanced, of course)

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, personal videos, Instagram can be helpful to your selling but this presentation will focus on LinkedIn.

  • The protocols of building relationships has not changed over the last 1 years. Only the manner in which has!
  • LinkedIn statistics for 2021: 710 million active  users.
  • LinkedIn  use has grown 24% per year in the last 5 years
  • LinkedIn had always been used to steal a sales rep’s contacts so got a bad wrap
  • LinkedIn now uses #hashtags to categorize conversations just like every other social media outlet

  2. Create an account on tablet/PC/laptop
  3. Remember your password!
  4. Create a profile photo .. IMPORTANT!
    1. Complete the details
  5. Decide what you will post and what you will NOT post
    1. Family photos
    2. Customer photos
    3. Hobby photos
    4. Work photos
    5. Sports photos
    6. Like posts
    7. Comment on posts
    8. Share posts .. be genuine not frivolous
    9. Hashtags #Pittsburgh #PittsburghCopyGuy #HostToPost #WorkFlow
    10. Find subject matter experts on your customers’ topics of interest
  6. Don’t be afraid!!  You won’t break it!
  7. How people view it.. They scroll.. QUICKLY so catch their eye! Remember how YOU scroll.. they do the same.

  • Don’t be pushy
  • Don’t always be selling
  • Be a subject matter expert
  • Be social… like you would be in person
  • Understand that social media is a slow process.. filling the funnel
  • # of Followers is not your goal.. interaction and getting followers to TAKE ACTION is your goal
    • Account that has 150 followers that gets high interaction is much better than an account that has 5,000 with little or no comments, shares, etc
