These jags learned a thing or two when podcasting from the legendary Soergels. There are over 100 different types of apples. Yep, and whichever you pick, Mary Mac says you can pair perfectly with a Tupperware shaker pie crust to complete her apple dumpling recipe. What’s that? Simply 2 c flour, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp baking powder, ¾ c shortening, 2 Tbs butter, softened and 6 Tbs cold water. Â
This is a fall staple and you can cheat a bit and use the pie crust already made from a store. Â
DirectionsÂ
- Core and peel apples, make sure there are no seedsÂ
- Divide pie dough into 6 equal piecesÂ
- On a floured surface, roll out one piece of dough into a 6 inch circleÂ
- Place apple in the center of the dough, sprinkle 1 tsp sugar in and around the appleÂ
- Sprinkle 1 pinch of cinnamon onto the appleÂ
- Pull up dough around the apple, pinch to sealÂ
- Place into a greased 9×13 baking dish, repeat for all apples. All 6 should fit in the dish without touchingÂ
- Bake at 400°F dish for 40-45 minutes Â
- Serve warm with vanilla ice creamÂ
Mary Mac says it is a warmer upper for a cold season and we are Mary Mac believers. How abaht ‘dem apples?Â
Thanks Mary Mac! Â
