Summary: This week warranted a few stops to learn about our Pittsburghers and influencers.  Rachael needed no arm-twisting to attend the Steel City Sip & Sweets event at Nova Place benefitting Lending Hearts. Kidsburgh Editor, Sally Quinn, sips and ‘kid tips’ with us, and we collected stories with Internet phenomenon James Breakwell who wrote a new book, Bare Minimum Parenting and continuously tweets regarding the quirkiness of kids. Plus, we got music and got to know how Township Road sounds like thanks to the WDVE Rocks Children’s, a benefit for CHP. and their families

Question of the day: In honor of a kinda kids episode, what is that ONE kids movie you have seen over and over but don’t mind?

5:18    Vasso Palioras: Fueled by the 20 sips and sweets available for taste testing at the Steel City Sips and Sweets event at Nova Place, Vasso Pailoras tackled the morning successfully and can add another top-notch fundraising event to her books. She talks about her role as Founder/Executive Director of Lending Hearts, a nonprofit devoted to the emotional and social support to children and young adults dealing with cancer treatment and their families.

15:09   Sally Quinn: Once the Features Editor for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, and a long list of journalistic attributes, Sally Quinn has recently concentrated her fun style on Kidsburgh. She talks about its growth from a once-a-month newsletter to a weekly newsletter informing all of Western PA of the great things happening for kids. Plus, her West Coast grandkids don’t call her Grandma Silly for nothing. Find out how her Kidsburgh Editor title has helped her be the grandma of all grandmas.

33:15 James Breakwell: Preorder his new book, Bare Minimum Parenting now. This comedian and sharp witted internet guru talks about his stint as a reporter, that brought him back to being a column writer, and humbly describes his success with humor writing while using Twitter as a platform.  He admits that it takes multiple takes to get that Facebook perf pic of his kiddos and lends some insight to kids in sports today.
