This is an easy one.  Yes, there are huge things wrong with our country… sleazy politicians, creepy business owners, lazy government workers…BUT.. we believe these people are in the minority (that whole one bad apple thing). Most people aren’t sleazy, creepy or lazy and, despite its issues, we wouldnt want to live anywhere else.

So a Brownsville Area High Schooler refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. She chose to sit. (WTAE Story HERE).  The student was disciplined and is now suing the School District. She is being supported by her parents.

WHOOAAA!!! This stuff makes us crazy.

Even if you make this NOT about honoring the country with it’s “pledge”.. the country in which you live safely and educate yourself (which seems kinda crazy) but this IS a free country.

What if we make it about students… S-T-U-D-E-N-T-S, i.e. KIDS that want to buck the rules of an organization like a school and the parents who DON’T say, “Shut the hell up. Go to school and follow the rules!  If you don’t like them, educate yourself, get some experience and work to change them WITHIN THE RULES.”  Instead, these parents say, “Let’s SUE SOMEONE!!!!!!!”

Sure, you can make the case that if, MLK hadn’t bucked the rules, our country would STILL be light years behind regarding equality.

But this is a high school student!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a side note, the ACLU attorney has said the student was just trying to blend in and doesn’t want any attention…hard to blend in when you’re the only one sitting nd hard to NOT get any attention when you’re suing the school district on the news!

And parents, ever hear of the word “NO” or of being an actual “parent” that teaches their kids to listen to rules and authority and that they shold work within the rules given????????????

We say, go ahead and sit down for your country’s Pledge of Allegiance.  Just be sure that, when you sit down, it’s on a plane that’s taking you to the country that you believe is a better one in which to live, Ya Jagoff!!!!!!

  1. “Due to the state of the Country right now, she doesn’t feel that she can say the Pledge” to our Great Flag? This kid doesn’t have any idea what that means, she is just a disobedient brat. The ACLU rep, trying to sound so educated and all important is a whole different Jagoff story! And, ya know, I served our Country, in both the Navy and the PA Army Guard, so that this brat can have these rights. Someone needs to take this awful kid to the VA hosp, in on Highland Drive. Or better yet, find a wounded vet to visit her at her school.

  2. I don’t stand for the pledge or the anthem. To blindly stand behind the state is not to disregard the sacrifices of the many, but to say that you do not believe that the words in the pledge or the anthem actually depict what america is or even stands for anymore. Frankly, it’s pretty fascist to have people “pledge” to a country or a flag. Serving in the armed forces these days does not allow “this brat” to “have these rights.” If anything, it’s been taking away those rights. The patriot act, insane military spending, and the intrusive paranoia that the government uses in the name of “security.” The last war that was about rights was the american revolution…. and maybe the war of 1812, when a country actually invaded the united states.

It is very good that we have a country that is better than some others with regard to rights… but does that mean we should blithely support a country who is taking away our rights inch by inch, of which the author and the previous commentator seem to overlook?

  3. Kids who are still under the age of emancipation have limited rights. They can’t spout off their opinion to disrupt class, for example. They can’t burn the flag. In general, while they are still in school they are to adhere to the rules of the school and discipline themselves in the process. This kid may be one of the budding leftist baby communists being raised by full blown communists to constantly buck the system and generally make asses of themselves. Defy, defy, defy….and then sue when someone tells you to sit down and shut your baby commie mouth. Would love to know the ethnicity here. Mom’s last name is “Raja.” Interesting.

  4. Well. What a dilema. You could quote a lot of catch phrases here,’freedom of speech’, ‘right to self expression’, ‘intrusion of government’, violation of rights’, but really the bottom line is this. A public school student refused to do what was asked and was disciplined. This happens all day every day. An employee of any school district asks any student to do any thing, or stop doing any thing, the student disobeys, and they are punished. It’s pretty simple. You can get a lawyer. You can call the local news outlet. You can cyberschool. You can drop out. But still, you are a jagoff.
